Lyndsay Durkin

Lyndsay Durkin, Midwife Co-ordinator/Clinical lead for normality, Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust

Qualifying in 1997, Lyndsay Durkin has worked in a busy consultant led unit and local birth centre. An enthusiastic advocate for women and a passionate supporter of physiological birth, Lyndsay has lead on a number of projects including; the introduction of the use of water for labour and birth, the use of aromatherapy oils in supporting labour and a number of innovative projects that have ultimately improved the choices available for local women.

A practising midwife, Lyndsay is actively involved in midwifery and multidisciplinary teaching and in raising the profile and provision of quality midwifery care within Wolverhampton.

More recently appointed as a supervisor of midwives, Lyndsay has been a key member of the team awarded the ‘All Party Parliamentary Group Award’ (APPG) for Normality in 2008 and again in 2010. In 2009, Lyndsay also designed a project that was both highly commended by the APPG and the RCM and in 2010 was winner in the ‘Innovation in Midwifery Education’ category in RCM Awards.
