Elaine Uppal

Elaine Uppal, Lecturer Midwifery, Salford University

Elaine Uppal is a Lecturer in Midwifery at Salford University. She is currently co-authoring a Safeguarding book for Early Year Practitioners and completing her PhD thesis ‘Interprofessional Learning in a Community of Child Protection Practice’. Other research interests include Pilates for pregnancy and beyond and exploring how creative arts can promote a holistic and humanistic philosophy of birth. Her interest in the art of midwifery was fostered following collaborations between the Birth Rites organisation, artists and student midwives, work that is ongoing between the School of Nursing & Midwifery and the School of Art & Design at Salford University. Artwork from the Birth Rites collection is on display within the Midwifery Directorate in the Mary Seacole building at Salford University.
