Speaker Biography

John Shaw

John trained as a musician and therapist at Dartington, and worked in both worlds for 10 years before moving to Sense – a Deaf/blind Organisation where he gained a Masters in Education in multi sensory impairment and became a national consultant for deaf/blind children.

John started his career in Devon County Council as the Joint agency team manager for Exeter in 2000, becoming Head of service for Devon in 2006.

Following the integration of Devon County Council and the Primary Care Trust services in 2008, John took the role of Strategic Commissioner for children with additional need. This incorporates Special Educational Needs (SEN), Commissioning and Health and Social care in the portfolio at the heart of the Devon Children’s Trust strategy for integration.

John now leads the two major transformational programmes, Stepping Stones and Integrated Children’s delivery service.
