Dr Javier Sagi-Vela

Dr Javier Sagi-Vela is currently the Director General of Universia Holding, having joined in 2000. Universia is the largest university network in the world, working in 23 countries, funded by the Santander Bank and comprising 1216 universities in Spain and Latin America. He has worked as a tutor at Comillas Pontifical University (ICAI-ICADE), Carlos III University Madrid and Antonio de Nebrija University, teaching different subjects in the departments of Economics, Accounting and Finance since 1996. Between 1999 and 2000 he was Financial Director for Latin America at Ecuality eCommerce Quality, which at the time was the first e-business in Spain and another five Latin American countries. From 1996-98, Dr Sagi-Vela was Director General of the General Council of Physiotherapy and directed a number of different medical distribution companies. He has run a number of development cooperation projects in Bolivia, Tanzania and India and lived in these countries for three years, from 1993-95. Prior to 1993, he worked for Coopers and Lybrand in Mergers and Acquisitions, and for IBM in the large department stores business division.
