Steve Robinson

Born in Evesham in 1956, Steve Robinson attended the Abbey High School in Redditch until 1975. Married in 1989 he and his wife, Nicola, have one son. Steve enjoys walking, gardening, cycling and golf.

Steve has held a variety of posts both in local authority and the private sector. In 1975 Steve started his career as a Trainee Environmental Health Officer for Coventry City Council moving on to Sandwell Borough Council in 1979 to become an Environmental Health Officer. While working for Coventry he studied at the University of Ashton graduating with BSc in Environmental Health. He became Housing Agency Co-ordinator in 1981. While in this role he undertook a postgraduate course and successfully completed a Diploma in Management Studies. In 1986 Steve joined Wolverhampton Borough Council as a Principal Housing Officer rising to Chief Housing Renewal Officer after five years and Head of Urban Renewal Service in 1996.

Over the next seven years Steve moved between local authority and private sector in leading organisational roles, including Chief Executive, South Liverpool Housing; Assistant Director – Regeneration for Liverpool City Council; Director of Riverside Housing; Chief Executive, Walsall Housing Group and Director of Housing and Consumer Protection at Stoke-on-Trent City Council. Steve continued working for Stoke-on-Trent City Council for five years. During which time he became Director of Community and Adult Services in 2005 and then Chief Executive in 2006.

In 2008 Steve became Chief Executive for the new shadow authority of Cheshire West and Chester Council and after local government re-organisation took up his post proper in April 2009. Steve came to Cheshire West and Chester with the aim of creating something new, fresh and exciting.

He has created a council which prides itself on putting its customers first, providing value for money and encouraging its employees to innovate, imagine and inspire. He is passionate about ensuring Cheshire West and Chester leads the way in all that it does, and is ambitious and challenging in the way it achieves its goals.
