Jon Roberts

Jon is a Partner with Grant Thornton and leads our Birmingham public sector audit practice. He acts as Engagement Partner for many public sector bodies in the East and West Midlands, including NHS trusts and PCTs, unitary authorities and district councils and central government agencies. He has undertaken and led financial management reviews and due diligence, financial and value for money and efficiency audits within the public and private sectors, as well as the not-for-profit sector.

He is an accredited Audit Commission Inspector, having undertaken corporate governance inspections for the Commission and has led major Reports in the Public Interest. Jon currently leads Grant Thornton's relationship with the Audit Commission, HFMA and CIPFA in the Midlands.
Jon is a member of our national public sector leadership team, which gives him responsibility for the strategic development of our approach to the public sector. He also leads the Firm’s Audit Quality Assurance team, undertaking reviews of other offices' audit assignments to ensure they meet the requirements of the Code of Audit Practice and auditing standards. He has delivered a number of high profile investigations at local authorities, including major Reports in the Public Interest and leads the firm's special investigation ('challenge') work within local government.

Jon is a member of the CIPFA in the Midlands Regional Council and is vice chair of Governors at the national CIPFA Education and Training Centre. He has been a judge on CIPFA's Future Leaders programme as well as a scrutineer for the Public Servant of the Year Awards.
