Prof Piet Van Avermaet

Prof Piet Van Avermaet
Prof. Piet Van Avermaet is a Doctor in Applied Linguistics. He teaches Multicultural Studies at the University of Ghent, Belgium. He is Director of the Centre for Diversity & Learning at the same university.

His expertise and research interests are: diversity and social inequality in education; educational linguistics; multilingual and multicultural education; language and integration of immigrants, sociolinguistics and language testing.

He worked for many years at the Centre for Language and Education at the University of Leuven, where he was co-ordinator of the Certificate Dutch as a Foreign Language (CNaVT).
