Alison Mitchell

Alison Mitchell, Deputy Director of Vitae, the UK researcher development organisation, has strategic responsibility for Vitae Regional Hubs, HEI networks, communications, web, resources and stakeholder engagement. As Head of the Postgraduate Research Office, University of Strathclyde, Alison established the University framework for researcher development, working in partnership with research leaders, and managed doctoral studentship funding and the EPSRC Collaborative and Knowledge Transfer Accounts.

Involvement in innovative industry-academic partnerships linked with researcher development, led to research into researchers’ skills for high technology SMEs and leading the national Vitae project highlighting researchers skills in Intrapreneurship. Whilst at the University of Glasgow, Alison was engaged in national and international postgraduate recruitment, student support, programme management, and student centred web development. Alison is a member of the Institute of Knowledge Transfer and Chartered Management Institute, a Fellow of the Association of University Administrators and an Associate Fellow of the University of Warwick.
