Mark Easton

Mark Easton is BBC News Home Editor, an award-winning broadcaster and writer who appears regularly on television, radio and online. His first book ‘Britain etc.’ was published.

Mark’s BBC blog was a finalist at the prestigious international Online Journalism Awards and he has also won a number of awards for his television documentaries and news reports, including Royal Statistical Society awards for statistical excellence in 2009 and 2010.

Mark’s role is to provide expert analysis and broad perspective on the issues and stories affecting modern Britain, chronicling the impact of rapid demographic, technological, economic and global change.

In 2012 he wrote and presented a series for BBC Radio 4 entitled “What Are The Police For?” and in 2005 he was the writer and presenter of a series of television documentaries, “The Happiness Formula”, which studied the growth and impact of the politics of well-being.

Before taking up his current post, Mark was Home and Social Affairs Editor at Channel 4 Television and Political Editor at Channel 5 television. He is married with four children and lives in North London.
