 Dee Smith
Working for The Springboard Charity and Springboard UK Ltd for 6 years Dee has delivered upon programmes and projects fulfilling the objectives of both. The UK Ltd division aims to improve perceptions of the Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism Industry as a viable career option alongside The Charity which aims to support young, unemployed and disadvantaged with improving their prospects of economic stability by overcoming barriers to sustainable employment.

Most recently Dee has been driving forward the delivery of the portfolio of national programmes which engages young people in schools through a cookery competition and programme – FutureChef. Through linking education and local employers from the hospitality industry this activity supports 12-16 year olds identify possible career options through a dedicated series of careers activity throughout the academic year. Dee also oversees Springboard’s Summer School and Inside Track programmes which support the transition from education into employment through careers related training, information advice and guidance and then work placement which ultimately leads to employment, apprenticeships or higher education relating to the Industry.

Finally Dee has been taking forward the delivery for Springboards Into Work Programmes which engages with various unemployed and economically inactive individuals who may be long, short term unemployed, ex-offenders or those that may be at risk of offending or poverty. These programmes engage with individuals at various points in their lives and through Springboards model of one to one support, work related training, information, advice and guidance, work placement and mentoring, once is employment secured, it helps that individual make the transition into employment a supportive one to ensure sustainability and success.

Managing a team of 11 Programmes Managers throughout the UK within this small organisation Dee previously worked within the Hospitality Industry and gained a BA (hons) in Criminology.
