John Pugh MP

John Pugh was Councilor of the Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council from 1987-2001; he was a Group Leader from 1992-2001, and a Leader from 2000-01. John was a former member of the Merseyside Police Authority and a current member of North West Arts Board, Merseyside Partnership. John is also a member for Southport.

He was a Liberal Democrat Spokesperson on education and transport, but is currently a Democrat Spokesperson on health. He was a Member of the Transport, Local Government and the Regions from 2001-02, Transport, Local Government and the Regions (Transport Sub-Committee) from 2001-02, and Transport, Local Government and the Regions (Urban Affairs Sub-Committee) from 2001-02. John was also a Member ODPM/Communities and Local Government from 2002-03 and ODPM/Communities and Local Government (Urban Affairs Sub-Committee) till 2003.

John is currently a member of ODPM/Communities and Local Government, Crossrail Bill and Public Accounts. He is Vice-Chair of the All-Party Burma Group. He is currently Vice-Chair or the All-Party European Capital of Culture 2008 Group. John is also Vice-chair of the All-Party, Pro-Life Group, and CAFOD GROUP. He is a member of the European Capital of Culture 2008 Group, Pro-Life Group, and CAFOD Group. He is a former chair Southport Liberal Democrat Association.

His political interests are in local and regional government, elderly, education, transport, and health.
