Speaker Biography

Diana Forrest

Diana was a Director of Public Health for 12 years, first with St Helens and Knowsley Health Authority, then from 2002 - 2010, as a joint post with Knowsley Primary Care Trust and Knowsley Council. During her time in Knowsley, measurable reductions in health inequalities were seen, especially for cardiovascular disease and for male life expectancy.

Diana has increasingly understood the value of listening to local people, and working with them to develop solutions to their needs. Diana has now retired from paid work, and is working in a voluntary capacity on projects involving the faith sector and other partners in improving health and wellbeing. The main programme is on 3 estates designated as priority areas for action by Trafford Council. Here she is working with the Sale West and Ashton Partnership, using the assets-based approach, to improve the quality of life of the residents.
