Dr Nick Maguire

Nick studied for both his first degree and doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at the University of Southampton, specialising in severe and enduring mental health problems.
After qualification he worked for a number of years in a Community Mental Health Team, before moving on to develop a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy service for entrenched rough sleepers in partnership with local homelessness charities.

He currently works for the University of Southampton as Director of Programmes for Psychology, researching the psychological and mental health issues underpinning and maintaining homelessness. His lecturing and teaching centres on two main areas in homelessness: 1) the psychological and environmental factors underpinning and maintaining homelessness; and 2) the design and provision of therapeutic interventions based on identified need. He also has interests in employee and organisational wellbeing.
