Professor Geoff Layer OBE

Professor  Geoff Layer OBE
Geoff is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Wolverhampton and as such is the senior executive and academic officer of the University.

He was previously a Pro Vice Chancellor and then Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University of Bradford until joining Wolverhampton in August 2011. He has also worked in universities in Luton and Sheffield.

An internationally regarded advisor on widening participation in higher education, he was the founding director of the HEFCE national co-ordinating team for widening participation, Action on Access.

He has directed national support programmes and researched extensively in the field of higher education policy, and played a national role in the development of credit accumulation and transfer in the UK in the 1980s and early 1990s. He is an active member of local, regional and national bodies established to develop employment skills and opportunities.
