Since 2005, Jane Usherwood has been Secretary General of Universitas 21, the leading international higher education network. Universitas 21 currently has 27 members from 17 jurisdictions. It collaborates in three main areas – enhancing the student experience, educational innovation and engaging emerging researchers.

As Secretary General, her role is to facilitate collaboration between members, identify strategic opportunities, oversee internal and external communications with external agencies and act as corporate secretary.

Time spent studying and working outside the UK convinced her of the transformative potential of international experiences and led her to her current role.
