Dr Nick Pike

Dr Nick Pike
Nick Pike has been a social work practitioner, manager and educator for over 35 years. He has worked for two local authorities and three national charities mostly developing services for children with severe disabilities and their families.

He has been Senior Lecturer in Disability Studies at the University of Winchester, Principal Lecturer in Social Work at the University of Gloucestershire and now splits his time between teaching social work at Oxford Brookes University and being a minister in the Church of England, with responsibilities in three parishes in Oxfordshire.

His current teaching covers the entire range of child care practice, with particular interests in therapeutic child care and social pedagogy. His research has included ethnographic studies of children with tuberous sclerosis and their families, and child care practice in a residential special school.
