Margaret Sheil

 Margaret  Sheil
Appointed provost in 2012, Professor Sheil is Melbourne’s chief academic officer, responsible for student recruitment, curriculum and teaching quality and innovation. A chemist by training, she previously headed the Australian Research Council for five years, where she led a range of new funding schemes; she has also taught and held research positions.
