Speaker Biography

Professor Paul White

Paul White is Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Learning and Teaching at the University of Sheffield, where he is also Professor of European Urban Geography. He is a member of HEFCE’s Strategic Advisory Committee on Teaching Quality and Student Experience, and he is also co-chair of the Higher Education Academy’s PVC network. He has recently been a member of the Financial Sustainability Strategy Group’s working party on the Costs of Sustainable Teaching (chaired by Geoff Crossick), and of the HEFCE TQSE sub-committee on Quality Assurance (chaired by Colin Riordan). Within Sheffield Paul has responsibility for all aspects of taught programme provision, as well as for academic liaison with Student Services and with the Library and Computer Services. Paul has held visiting appointments at a number of mainland European universities including the Sorbonne, Zaragoza and Cagliari.
