Helen Wheeler

Helen Wheeler is a Senior Development Officer in the Early Childhood Unit at the National Children’s Bureau. In this role she has identified and collated effective practice in involving parents in their children’s early learning birth to five, reviewed the latest research and literature, produced material for PEAL (Parents, Early Years and Learning), and liaised with local authorities and settings in the delivery of PEAL She is co-author (with Joyce Connor) of Parents, Early Years and Learning: Parents as Partners in the Early Years Foundation Stage (2009).

Helen has many years experience as a classroom teacher, most recently within an early years ethnic minority achievement team in the London Borough of Ealing. She has also designed and delivered many successful family learning sessions for parents in nursery schools and children’s centres.
