Marilyn Hawkins

 Marilyn Hawkins
Principal of Barnet College.

Marilyn Hawkins is the Principal of Barnet College, a major provider of post-16 learning in North London and has been in post since January 2003.

Previously she was Executive Director of the Learning & Skills Council for Lincolnshire & Rutland and spent two years looking back into the FE sector from the outside. Her earlier experience as a Principal was at Grimsby College, another large general further education college. She has a background in the Health Service.

Marilyn has contributed to several national and regional strategy groups, was a Connexions Director and a board member of the sub-regional strategic partnership of the East Midlands Development Agency. She was a member of the DfES Group developing the concept of the Leadership College. She currently represents the FE sector as a member of the North London Strategic Alliance, chairs a successful Skills Development Group, is an active member of the Local Strategic Partnership and is a non-executive director of the London Borough of Barnet. Marilyn is also Treasurer to the 157 Group and sits on the LLUK FE panel.
