Chris Morecroft


Chris Morecroft was principal of Worcester College of Technology for eight years having previously held the post of principal at Dearne Valley College in South Yorkshire for four years. His teaching career started in 1974 in Salford at Eccles Sixth Form College, before he moved to the Abraham Moss Centre in Manchester. During the 1980s Chris was an education officer in Rotherham and at the City of Sheffield Local Education Authorities, and prior to his appointment as a Vice-Principal at Broxtowe College in Nottingham in 1991 was an Education Adviser for Further and Continuing education in Rotherham.

Chris was born in London and educated at Hillside Secondary Modern, Leeds College of Technology and Leicester Polytechnic. He obtained his Certificate of Education from the University of Manchester, and a higher degree from Sheffield Hallam University.

Chris has been a member and former Chair of the Principals’ Professional Council, a national board member of the Association of Colleges, Chair of the AoC HE Group,a member of the HEFCE Widening Participation Committee, a member of the AoC Technology Group, and a board member of the Open College Network for the West Midlands and JISC Advance.
