Angela Roberts

Angela Roberts, Chair, National Professional Committee

Angela Roberts has a health service career spanning almost 40 years

Qualifying as a registered nurse and registered sick children’s nurse in the 1970’s Angela worked as a Staff Nurse in Paediatrics then Senior Sister in Coronary and Intensive Care units in her home town of Burnley and subsequently in Liverpool. A spell in North Wales saw her working as a clinical teacher in Paediatrics. Angela went on to train as a Health Visitor and Specialist Practice Teacher working in Shropshire and North Wales, developing interests and expertise in breastfeeding and working with Gypsy Travellers.

In the late 1980’s Angela completed a Diploma in Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing Degree. Following this Angela completed a PGCE and Master of Arts in Counselling Studies. In 2005 Angela was awarded a Fellowship of The Higher Education Academy.

In recent Years Angela has pursued her interest in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and in 2008 achieved accreditation as a Cognitive & Behavioural Psychotherapist.

A great believer in public health and the value of health visiting, Angela has been active within the CPHVA throughout its many metamorphoses and prior to becoming UK Chair was Chair for Wales (CPHVA CYMRU). Angela has a number of publications including book chapters in counselling texts and partnership working in health and social care texts for students.

Angela’s current position is as a Strategic Commissioning Manager for Children’s Health Services with Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. This is Angela’s final conference as Chair of CPHVA.
