Speaker Biography

Dr Caroline Gatrell

Dr Caroline Gatrell is based in the School of Management at Lancaster University. Her main research area is interdisciplinary and centres upon parenting and employment, gender and work-life balance.

Caroline’s main teaching interests are in PhD study and she is an experienced teacher and supervisor of both younger PhD students (often full-time) and mature post-experience students (often part-time). Caroline has experience of developing and delivering research training for PhD students, including on Lancaster’s cross-disciplinary PhD in Management. She has a strong track record of gaining funding to support research students through their studies.

Caroline’s teaching interests in part-time PhD study are integrated with her research on managing the process of part-time PhD study. Caroline has recently contributed as keynote speaker and facilitator to a two day workshop for senior academics at the Missenden Centre for the Development of Higher Education: Supervising post-experience part-time PhD Students.
