Speaker Biography

Dr Gillian Halley

Dr Halley is a Consultant in Paediatric Cardiothoracic Intensive Care at the Royal Brompton Hospital and is also Consultant for the Pan Thames Children’s Long Term Ventilation Service.

Following her postgraduate training Dr Halley undertook a research fellowship at the University of Edinburgh and then continued with specialty training in paediatric intensive care in Australia and Canada. Subsequently she has developed an interest in using high quality clinical audit to improve outcomes and in the use of web based technology to improve the delivery of care to the patient.

The e-VENT web based pathway won the 2009 NHS London Innovator Award in Healthcare ICT. Dr Halley is currently leading a project supported by the NHS London Regional Innovation Fund to support the implementation of the pathway alongside central clinical support and education with the aim of delivering care for technology dependent children at home, or closer to home.
