Tim Marshall

 Tim Marshall
Chief Executive, JANET (UK).

Tim’s first job was as a computer operator on the ICL 1905/Applied Dynamic 256 hybrid computer at Cranfield Institute of Technology followed by a spell as a Cobol programmer at the Open University. After graduating from Southampton University in Sociology he joined BBC Radio as a studio manager rising to become Head of Events BBC TV. Following the BBC he joined Buena Vista Productions as Managing Director, responsible for Disney’s international TV production. In 2000 he joined Wide Learning, as Chief Operating Officer producing e-learning for the finance, public and media sectors. In March 2005 Tim became CEO at JANET(UK) the organisation responsible for providing JANET, the UK’s world class research, learning and education network. He is a Fellow of the RSA, a member of the Royal Television Society, British Computer Society and Institute of Directors. His charity work includes producing the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall.
