Speaker Biography

Nigel Paul

Nigel Paul is Director of Corporate Services at the University of Edinburgh, responsible for its operational and commercial activities. He chairs the boards of Edinburgh Research and Innovation Ltd and Edinburgh University Press Ltd, is a Director of HPCx Ltd, the UK research high performance computing facility, and TMRI Ltd, the partnership with Scottish Enterprise, other Universities and Health Boards, that manages contracts for translational medicine research.
Nigel is also Non Executive Chairman of APUC Ltd (Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges), and a member of the Scottish Government Public Procurement Reform Board. He was previously an external member of a Scottish Government advisory board on public sector shared services.
Prior to joining the University, he worked in ICI PLC, latterly as Finance, IT and Planning Director for one of its major international heavy chemical groups, and was a member of the steering board of its UK Financial Services centre. Until December 2008, he was a non-executive member of the Companies House Steering Board, and he periodically works with the Leadership Trust in support of their leadership development programmes.
