He gives advice and tips about the Inspection from the moment ‘The Call’ comes in: pre-inspection briefing, building up a strong narrative, the presentation by the Principal and how to involve and update your staff.

Presentation 2- Inspection and involving learners Speaker: Marilyn Hawkins, Officer, 157 Group; Principal, Barnet College
Summary: Marilyn is Principal of a large, urban, diverse and multi-site college. With this presentation she shares best practice and practical examples of involving learners in the inspection process by building up a culture of learner involvement. Her best advice: ‘talk to your learners, invite them for lunch, include them in the process so that they build up the confidence’.

Summary: To achieve an outstanding rating for ‘outcomes for learners’, Chris gives an overview and tips on how to improve outcomes for learners. This presentation focuses on: how well learners improve their economic and social well being; how learners are encouraged to make informed choices about health and well being; how well learners achieve and enjoy learning; and how they make a positive contribution to the community.
