Robert Pheasant

Rob is Head of Skills for Life at the Learning and Skills Improvement Service. He is responsible for developing and managing programmes and services to help providers improve the quality of their literacy, language and numeracy provision. During his 5 years with LSIS he has managed several high profile initiatives, including the Skills for Life Improvement Programme, Move On and developing the on-line Core Curriculum on the Excellence Gateway.

Prior to joining LSIS Rob was employed in a further education college where he was responsible for implementing a whole organisation approach to embedding Skills for Life. Following significant improvements in retention, achievement, progression, learner satisfaction and recognition from Ofsted for the quality of teaching and learning, Rob was seconded to the Department for Education and Skills where he worked in the Skills for Life Strategy Unit. During his 3 year secondment he worked on several significant programmes, including the development of materials for embedded learning and the Whole Organisation Approach to Skills for Life Pathfinder Programme.
