John Wardell

John Wardell, Programme Director for Integrated Care Commissioning
NHS Tower Hamlets

John Wardell qualified from the University of Sheffield with a B.Med.Sci. (Hons) Speech Science degree in 1996. He worked as a Speech and Language Therapist for a number of years working with both children and adults before specialising in adult neurology. He spent some time working at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust and South Birmingham Primary Care Trust as lead for Stroke Services while undertaking an MSc in Rehabilitation from the University of Nottingham. From 2003 to 2006 he worked for Solihull Primary Care Trust spending the last 18 months as a Deputy Director of Community Health Services. In 2006 he joined NHS Tower Hamlets as Associate Director of Primary & Community Care Commissioning. John is currently Programme Director for Integrated Care Commissioning he leads on practice based commissioning, service re-design, care closer to home, long term conditions and end of life. In addition John is the programme lead for integrated care and supports the PCT with an ambitious programme of work looking at developing primary care into integrated networks, integration of adult social care with community nursing, developing a community tariff and integrated commissioning.
