Better Local Regulation
11 Nov 2008
Prosperity and Protection
Regulatory services are going through a challenging period of reform. The Regulatory Enforcement and Sanctions Act will put in place new requirements which will enhance the work of local authorities and national regulators in protecting citizens and promoting prosperity. This conference was an opportunity for decision makers from the regulation, business and consumer sectors to come together to understand how best to deliver the latest policy developments and discuss the future direction of reform. The event explored the detail of implementing new requirements such as the Primary Authority scheme and civil sanctions, as well as provide best practice in tackling the national priorities for enforcement. Delegates explored how to ensure regulatory services continue to play an important role in delivering local targets in the new round of Local Area Agreements. The event will also examine how to improve and maintain performance against the Comprehensive Area Assessment framework.
