Mainstreaming Apprenticeships 2009
02 Apr 2009
The 14-19 Conference Series. Held at New Connaught Rooms, London
One in five young people are to undertake an apprenticeship by 2013 and by 2010/11 900,000 young people and adults are to have completed an apprenticeship. With investment of £1 billion over the next three years, government is boosting apprenticeship opportunities, supporting business and increasing quality of provision. The Children, Skills and Learning Bill will guarantee apprenticeship places for every suitable young person by 2013 and lays out a duty to facilitate entry to apprenticeship programmes. This national conference brought together college leaders, employers, training and senior managers from key stakeholder organisations across government, the learning and skills sector and business to focus on the latest policy developments and offer guidance and best practice on framework arrangements, funding streams and access to resources.
