Sports Provision for Children and Young People
04 Oct 2007
In July, the Prime Minister announced that all school children will do up to five hours a week of sport. He pledged an additional £100 million to ensure that the original four-hour ambition for 2010 rises to five. The funding package will provide for a network of competition managers across the country to increase competition, more coaches both in schools and the community and a new national school sport week. In the first national conference bringing together Schools, Schools Sports Partnerships, Sports Colleges, local authorities and the private sector since the announcement, attendees heard how the five-hour ambition will be delivered and what the return of competition to our schools means in reality.
