The Future of Inspection and Regulation of Early Years

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) becomes statutory in September 2008. Merging the Birth to Three Matters Framework and the original foundation stage, to cover care, learning and development in all early years settings from birth to 5. In addition Education and Inspections Act came into force in November 2006, increasing the duties on local authorities and giving Ofsted new inspection duties for children's social services, having significant implications for early years inspection and regulation. This event looked at key questions including: How will childcare providers navigate this new system? Will inequalities be reduced? How will Ofted's new registers operate in practice?
