Esther Watson

Esther Watson, The Royal College of Midwives’ Student Midwives’ Working Group member (SMWG)

Esther Watson is now a newly qualified midwife from Newcastle with a BSc (Honours) living in Dublin. Having studied Sociology at Sheffield and travelling for a year, Esther embarked on her midwifery training in September, 2007, also in Sheffield. Along the way she became involved with University life, acting as student representative, university ambassador, course advisor and nominated to speak at her forthcoming graduation ceremony. Esther also acted as student representative on the Sheffield Maternity Services Liaison Committee (MSLC) in 2010 working with a multidisciplinary panel to improve women’s experiences of maternity care. Most recently, she has been compiling information resources for the Association for Improvements to Maternity Services (AIMS), Ireland, as well as attending local breastfeeding support groups in the Dublin area. The wealth of experiences Esther gained as a student are the spring board to her career as a registered midwife and one day she hopes to work abroad in Australia and Africa.
