Liz Railton CBE

Liz Railton joined Together for Children as Programme Director in January 2007 and took on additional responsibilities for Together for Disabled Children in June 2008.

Liz has a professional background in social work and was a local authority Director for nine years prior to joining the Together for Children consortium. She was Director of Social Services for Cambridgeshire from 1998 until 2002. Liz held the dual role of Chief Education Officer and Director of Social Services for Essex from 2003 until 2005 when she relinquished responsibilities for adult social care and became the Director of Children's Services.

During this period Liz was also an active member of the Association of Directors of Social Services, serving as Honorary Secretary from 2002 to 2006.

Liz was awarded a CBE in the Queen's birthday honours in 2006 for services to local government.
