Paul Hazell

Paul Hazell, Policy Adviser, Skills Policy Team, HEFCE

Following a career as a technician in the IT and electronics sectors, Paul undertook a degree in Politics as a mature student. Following this, and a brief return to the IT sector in software testing, he has worked for HEFCE (the Higher Education Funding Council for England) for 10 years a variety of roles.

Within the skills team at HEFCE, Paul leads on employability and strategically important and vulnerable subjects. Current areas of work and interest include public information and salary information; the factors and personal attribute that are associated with career success; the demand for subjects and skills in higher education; and, in an era of reduced public funding for Higher Education, future policy towards strategically important subjects.
