Speaker Biography

David Trickey

David is Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist for the Child Bereavement and Trauma Service (CHUMS). The service offers support to bereaved children and young people from Luton and Bedfordshire, and a national service following traumatic bereavement. Since 2000 he has specialised in working with traumatised and traumatically bereaved children and adolescents. He worked for 6 years at the Traumatic Stress Clinic in London, and was then Lead Consultant Paediatric Psychologist at Leicester Royal Infirmary. He offers consultation and supervision, presents at conferences and supervises doctoral research.

He is an expert advisor to the police and an expert witness for the Court. He is at times consulted immediately following a trauma and asked to inform the crisis response. He was commissioned by the UK Government to evaluate the 7th July Assistance Centre. He is an editor of the Bereavement Care Journal and together with colleagues is about to publish a meta-analysis of risk factors for PTSD in children and young people.
