Lee Donaghy works at Park View School, the Academy of Mathematics and Science in Alum Rock, Birmingham.

All of the academy’s pupils are from ethnic minorities, 99 per cent of whom are Muslim. More than 90 per cent of pupils have English as an additional language.

In January, the academy became the first in the country to receive an 'outstanding' judgement under the Ofsted 2012 framework. Lee is leading a programme of staff development that aims to enable all teachers to equip pupils at the academy to recognise and use the academic registers of language necessary for success in school.
