Jill Lanning

Jill has worked in the learning and skills sector since 1982 when she started as a lecturer in an inner city FE college.

After a period as freelance consultant and trainer, she joined BTEC in 1996, just prior to the merger of BTEC with London Examinations to form Edexcel and was there for 10 years in a number of different roles including the strategic management of the portfolio of Edexcel qualifications.

Between 2006 and 2009, Jill worked at the Learning and Skills Network (LSN) as Operations Director responsible for the delivery of major workforce development contracts covering areas ranging from Skills for Life to the QCF.

In January 2010 Jill took up post as Chief Executive of the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB), an organisation that represents the interests of over 130 vocational awarding bodies. This involves seeking to influence government departments, regulators and other key stakeholders on all aspects of qualifications and providing support to the member awarding organisations, from specialist professional bodies to large organisations offering the full range of qualifications
