Lisa Dodd-Mayne

Lisa has spent all her life working in Sport. Lisa is currently responsible for Sport & Culture at Wakefield Council. As well as corporate cross-cutting responsibilities, Lisa is responsible for Sport & Active Lifestyles, Museums, Libraries and Archives, Culture, Arts Development, Markets, Major Events and Festivals. Prior to this, Lisa was Wakefield Council’s first ever Director of Sport and previously worked at Coventry City Council heading up their sports team bringing major events to the city such as the International Children’s Games and UK School Games.

She is passionate about the role that Sport and Culture can play in addressing cross-cutting issues such as health, regeneration and social cohesion. Lisa is an active member of CLOA Executive Board, as well as being Chair of West Yorkshire Sport, one of the largest county sports partnerships in the country which has just been moved successfully to an independent trust. Recent successes include the opening of The Hepworth, Wakefield, the biggest art gallery to open outside of London. The £35 million art gallery was delivered on time and on budget and has recently enjoyed 500,000 visitors in its first year of operation. Capital money has also been secured in this difficult financial climate with a brand new city library and museum and sports and leisure facility which is due to open later this year. She is also currently leading major service reviews of both libraries and markets to look at how they can be operated differently to meet changing consumer habits.

She has also been accepted on the Local Government Chronicle future leader’s programme.
