Jane Fleming

Jane Fleming is a registered nurse, health visitor and practice teacher. In 2005 she moved to the Professional Development Unit, Birmingham Community services. The role involved partnership working with Wolverhampton and Birmingham Universities, the Strategic Health Authority and Birmingham Safeguarding Children and Adults Boards. The management of practice placements for trainee health visitors, school nurses, district nurses and practice teachers.

Jane contributed to the development of staff nurse development programmes, specialist community practitioner BSc programmes, the implementation of staff training for the Common Assessment Framework and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

In 2011 she moved to Heart of England NHS FT, as a safeguarding educator. A large complex organisation consisting of three acute hospitals, community, midwifery and specialist services employing 11,000 staff.

Jane works in partnership with the Trust’s paediatric and adult safeguarding leads, Birmingham and Solihull Safeguarding Boards. She has developed safeguarding training resources creating a sustainable programme, improving compliance rates.
