Speaker Biography

Melanie Hunt

Melanie Hunt is Director Development for Learning and Skills and has responsibility for leading Ofsted’s work with the Learning and Skills system. Melanie also holds a corporate leadership role for equalities and human rights, research and analysis and sustainable development.

Prior to her appointment to Ofsted, Melanie worked for the Learning and Skills Council in a variety of roles. As National Director of Learning she held responsibility for the LSC’s strategies in adult and 14 – 19 learning, quality assurance, learner support and equality and diversity.

Melanie is originally from Sussex and worked there for almost 20 years. She was Director of Quality and Strategy at the LSC, supporting the transformation of the learning and skills system in the local area alongside three local authorities. Prior to that she was an inspector for the Further Education Funding Council, inspecting FE colleges of all types and specialising in humanities and leadership and management. Melanie has held senior positions in two FE colleges, has worked in a local authority as an education officer and taught in a 14 -19 school. She is an Oxford graduate and a Fellow of the RSA.
