Jane Williams

Jane Williams joined Becta in April 2007 as Executive Director for Further Education, Skills and 14-19. Becta leads on the effective use of technology to achieve better outcomes for learners and employers and improved value for money for the tax-payer. Previously she was Director of Improvement in Further Education in the Department for Education and Skills where she led on quality improvement, inspection, e-learning, workforce, leadership, teaching and learning, and the quality of Skills for Life. Jane also set up the F.E. Standards Unit and was the sponsor Director for a number of national organisations.

Jane has over 25 years experience in Further Education, embracing such interests as professional development and regeneration. She became Principal of Wulfrun College, Wolverhampton in 1996 and Principal of City of Wolverhampton College in 1999. In Wolverhampton she chaired the Local Strategic Partnership and Focus Housing Association. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. In 2003 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Education from the University of Wolverhampton for services to Further Education in the West Midlands.
