Jill Stevens

Jill Stevens, editor of Equality and Diversity Professional since 2008, was a journalist for nearly 30 years, working for national and regional newspapers and magazines, before joining Experian in the mid 1990s as director of consumer affairs and spokesperson on consumer issues.

She founded a pioneering consumer education programme and made an important contribution to the national debates on credit and debt, financial inclusion and capability and identity fraud and was a regular expert guest on television and radio before returning to journalism in 2008.

Jill has worked closely with various government departments and leading NGOs and has been a member of several national advisory committees, regularly chairing and speaking at major conferences at home and abroad.

Jill is a member of the Labour Women’s Network steering committee and has chaired several charities involved in money advice and financial capability; she is currently patron of UNLOCK, the charitable association of reformed offenders.
