Les Storey FRCN, FHEA, RGN, MSc
Les qualified in 1970 and since 1989 has been involved nationally and internationally in the development and implementation of competency based approaches within nursing and healthcare.
His recent work has included leading the work to develop the Preferred Place of Care, (now Preferred Priorities for Care) an Advance Care Planning process for recording patient preferences about care at the end of life
His experience includes
• National Lead for the DoH End of Life Care Initiative (Preferred Place of Care)
• RCN Council Member and Chair of the North West Board of the RCN
• Member of National Council for Palliative Care Policy Group
In 2000 he was conferred as a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing for his work on competency based education, and in 2001 was awarded the Edith Cavell scholarship by the Florence Nightingale Foundation. In 2007 he was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
