David Churchill, Projects Team Leader, Child Poverty Unit, Department for Work and Pensions

After 10 years teaching in the UK and abroad, David joined the DFE and first worked on school funding. He was then a speechwriter for among others David Miliband, Ruth Kelly, and Jacquie Smith. He led the school leadership policy team for two years, before becoming head of strategy for the 14-19 reform programme. David joined the child poverty unit in February 2010 as projects team leader. This includes lead responsibility for the School Gates employment support initiative.
