FE Colleges and the International Market
20 Jan 2009
3rd Annual Conference held at the Barbican Centre, London

The 53,000 international students currently enrolled in UK Further Education make a significant contribution to their colleges and their local economies. However, from March 2009 all colleges teaching non European Economic Area (EEA) students must have a licence issued by the UK Border Agency. To maintain and enhance its market share UK Further Education is challenged to operate in a rapidly changing global student market and to take advantage of the opportunities created by this internationalisation. Bringing together leaders in UK FE this conference set out the changes made to immigration requirements and their implications for the UK FE sector. Delegates heard how colleges and providers are developing long-term strategies to compete for international students, to understand the demands of international students, work in partnership with foreign colleges and businesses to promote UK FE overseas and ensure that international students have a seamless entry into and through UK FE.
