Jackie Mitchell

Jackie Mitchell, National Officer for Scotland, The Royal College of Midwives

Jackie trained as a midwife in Edinburgh qualifying in 1980. She then practiced as a midwife at the Western General Hospital until its closure in 1991 when she transferred as Labour Ward Sister to the Simpsons Memorial Centre at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Jackie has experience of working in both hospital and community settings.

Jackie has been a member of the Royal College of Midwives since 1987, becoming an activist in 2001. She took up placement as National Officer for the Royal College of Midwives in September 2008 after a period of secondment and has particular interests in early years and child protection.
