Professor Ronald Skeldon

Lecturer, University of Sussex.

Ronald Skeldon is a Professorial Fellow at the University of Sussex. He has just completed a 22 month secondment as a Senior Research Fellow at the Department for International Development (DFID) in London. Trained at the Universities of Glasgow (BSc Hons) and Toronto (MA; PhD), he worked in Papua New Guinea for the Australian National University and throughout the Asia and Pacific region for the United Nations. For 14 years he was on the faculty of the University of Hong Kong and joined the University of Sussex in 2000. He continues to act as a consultant to international organizations such as the International Organization for Migration, the International Labour Organization, the OECD and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. He specializes on the study of migration and development and particularly on the impact of migration on developing countries of origin and has published widely on the topic.
