Christine Outram

Christine Outram has been Managing Director of Medical Education England since June 2009, and in October this year was appointed Senior Responsible Officer for Health Education England, the new national body for education, training and workforce planning for health.

Christine has worked at Chief Executive level in the NHS for 18 years, Her wide experience as a CE includes three years at North Central London Strategic Health Authority and three years at NHS Leeds, where she led the merger of five smaller Primary Care Trusts into a strong single organisation.

Christine has considerable experience of successfully working with clinicians and patient groups to develop and improve services. She also has a proven track record of delivering major change programmes at national level.

Between 2004 and 2006, she led the national review of the Department of Health’s arm’s length bodies, which produced over £500 million savings for reinvestment in patient services. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the London Business School.
